"The Keruvim are a tribal boogeyman, told to sacristan-pages before their first melding. To meet one upon the field is to know one faces a fate worse than death, a sight few have survived to tell.
These immense beings, known as "Keruvim" ("The Guardians of Paradise" in High Lithidii) are a (thankfully) rare sight on the surface of Pan'thea. They appeared roughly 1300 years ago, during the decimation of the Slaughtered Moon, striking down the mad Sacral-templar Kellik Thur at the battle of Gothis, south of the steppes of Vakra-la.
They reside there still, millennia later, 12 huge statue-like beings floating above the remains of this historic confrontation, showing no signs of life, until, that is, someone dares break the Thurian Accords and trigger unnatural mutation in their BioKnight.
Should a tribe dare tinker with the divine armors entrusted to them, one of the 12 Keruvim will appear as if from thin air, a loud pop of displaced air and a keening whine of building fractal energies the only warning the heretic BK has before they are annihilated in a frenetic display of brutal violence and power. Ascendant Beasts seem to show strange deference to the Keruvim, retreating from their presence.
Are these ancient beings the guardians of Pan'thea, or a sign of its eventual downfall? One of the 12 must first be conversed with (or defeated) to discover the truth, a possibility few scholars see happening in our lifetime..."
